Overview
In 1910 Julius Drewe had an extraordinary dream: to build a brand new castle with a working portcullis and modern central heating on a remote Dartmoor hillside. The architect Sir Edwin Lutyens and his team of skilled craftsmen made the dream a reality, but even they were unable to keep out the weather. Now the National Trust is embarking on a pioneering conservation project to protect Drogo for another century.
Accompanied by a detailed family tree and garden and floor plans, this new guide tells the fascinating story of the Drewe family and their amazing creation.
